Abstract Boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) will be one of the most important materials this century. Recent synthetic advances have made BNNTs viable candidates for advanced multifunctional materials. Like carbon and graphene, h-BN extraordinary physical properties. Unlike CNTs, a wideband gap; they are piezoelectric, neutron radiation shielding capability, can withstand degradation up to 1000 °C. could next big leap nanocomposite applications; however, significant scientific challenges must addressed. Predominantly, large-scale synthesis techniques immature. Production products require careful characterization, analysis, purification. Impurities such as boron, amorphous BN, lead difficulty studying chemical modification translation BNNT This review synthesizes relevant literature state-of-the-art regarding purification methods BNNTs, classified physical, chemical, multi-step their applications.
